Survivors

There have always been various plants (and weeds) growing along the edges of the alley behind our house, but they’re all gone now except for these flowers blooming right up against our back fence. For the past several weeks, the city has been repaving the very large alley, breaking up all the mixed concrete and brick and replacing it entirely with brick. It’s been a real pain to not be able to park our cars in our carports on the alley and to not have our trash collected since the alley was entirely closed, but the work is finally finished, and it looks great. I thought it was nice of the paving contractors to leave this one little plant alone.
