‘Flower Basket Petit Point Quilt’ (1942-43)

Crafted by Grace Snyder, who lived in Nebraska and died in 1982 at the age of 100, this work is one of the best-known American quilts. By piecing together some 87,000 tiny triangles, Snyder created the illusion of needlepoint on a pieced quilt. She adapted the pattern from a porcelain design produced by a china company in Ohio.

87,000! Such detail, yet the overall conception is strong and a work of art.

Lady Grace Snyder had a lot of talents to adapt such a pattern from a pice of porcelain, so neat and artistic. And so is this phpoto to present it. ~VVVVV+~
