Baroque-style building constructed in 1780 by a merchant originally from Torrelavega, Jacinto Díez de Celis. This house is popularly known as the House of the Lions or La Placilla , due to the lion reliefs on the pilasters that frame the façade and its location in the center of La Placilla. This area is home to small shops and a food market; a bustling place where, from the 18th century and before the construction of the Mercado de la Concepción (1874), street vendors selling vegetables and fruit set up daily. The slaughterhouse, butcher shops, and tripe shops—located near Calle Ricardo Alcón (formerly Calle del Muro)—sold offal, tripe, and other offal.
