The Old Meets The New

Old Town, Edinburgh, Scotland

I found the Chanel banner in an interesting location surrounded by so much history. The Chanel banner also makes an interesting cover for the renovation work being done on the building behind the banner. Much of "Old Town" Edinburgh is ideal for walking with very little traffic but as you move away from the Grassmarket market place and The Royal Mile, views of a more modern city become more common. From what I have read, all renovations go to great efforts to retain the character and architecture of each restored building.

A wonderful contrast of old and new Edinburgh, where the historic statue, ornate rooftop details, and stone architecture stand proudly beside the bold modern Chanel banner and tram below....
The renovation cover cleverly turns construction into a visual statement, showing how the city preserves its heritage while allowing contemporary life to move naturally around it...
Wonderful capture! V

A great way to advertise and provide cover and comfort for the restoration work.

Such an interesting contrast between the modern fashion banner and the attractive old building. V.

a modest fashion statement from Chanel, yet it does serve a local purpose...the purple tram adds a sparkling touch..
