The striking, light-colored castle atop the hill is Stolzenfels Castle—a former fortress
that was converted into a palace in the style of Rhine Romanticism during the 19th century.
It is situated on the left bank of the Rhine, in the Stolzenfels district of Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate.
