99_Arch of Hadrian, Jerash, Jordan.jpg

The Arch of Hadrian in Jerash, Jordan, was built by the citizens of the ancient city of Gerasa to honor Roman Emperor Hadrian's visit in 129–130 AD.
It was intended to serve as a massive, ornate southern gateway to the city, marking his visit and a new era of expansion.
In 2005, the arch was under restoration. Reconstruction was completed in 2007 and the arch is now roughly 21 meters high, 37.45 meters long, and 9.25 meters deep.

This is the last photo in this gallery on the theme of "Arches." Thank you very much for viewing these photos, and especially for your comments and support.
