Virginia Beach is a heavily Navy town in southeastern Virginia. This monument portrays an Underwater Demolition Team swimmer ready for combat. These Seal forerunners swam through enemy waters under fire to find and demolish obstacles in the way of amphibious landings. Armed only with knives, they saved countless lives and were the most decorated Navy combat veterans of World War II.
