I have had several 8x21 binoculars, looking for a cheap compact I can take on holiday. Most disappoint, I have had Aico and Jessops but the USCamel here tops the lot for poor performance. But, the USCAMEL was bought for a remarkable £9.88 (inc p&p) and is reasonably sharp in the centre but that quickly blurs to around 60% to the edge. Fold down eyecups, not the best field of view, the worst thing is the chromatic aberration, much worse than any binocular I have owned. Cheaply produced Bak4 prisms, not Schott glass.
Cheap enough to keep in a car or give to children.
The HELIOS on the other hand is like comparing chalk and cheese. Lovely bright image with a much wider field of view, sharper and to approximately 80% of the edge. No CA that I could see. At £18.33 (inc p&p) it must be the best bang for buck 8x21 out there! It also has good eye relief with twist up eye cups (though slightly loose but easily sorted with a thin strip of black tape). Bak7 prisms.
