It is a three-story building, located in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, that preserves some elements from the Almoravid period. The entire complex was modified and expanded over the centuries. Currently, and by the express wish of Doña Luisa Isabel Álvarez de Toledo y Maura, the 21st Duchess of Medina Sidonia, it forms part of the historical and artistic heritage of the Casa de Medina Sidonia Foundation. From an architectural point of view, the Palace is made up of a series of buildings from different periods, which were added from the original Hispano-Muslim core of the 12th century, of which arcades, a large hall and two doors are preserved. From the 15th century onwards, several houses were added which, with appropriate modifications, were called the "New Palace". Later, in the 16th century, the acanthus garden-grove was created on what had been the old Sanlúcar ravine, and upon which the palace's retaining wall rests.
