One of three large bronze bison statues—a bull, cow, and calf—that were installed outside the Smithsonian’s Museum of Natural History on the National Mall in March. Created by artist Gary Staab, these permanent sculptures celebrate the U.S. 250th anniversary and the American bison as the national mammal.
This was a drive-by shot since the street was packed with tour buses and it was impossible to park. I’d like to go back to photograph the female bison and her calf when the tourist season has calmed down.
