Cádiz. Mercado Central

The Central Market of Cádiz was designed by Torcuato Bejumeda, who proposed a neoclassical quadrilateral plaza enclosed by a Doric portico, located on the grounds of the Discalced Carmelite convent, now Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), which was expropriated in the 1830s. The historic market in Plaza de la Libertad was inaugurated in 1838, and renovations began just over a century later. In 1928, a restructuring of the complex was undertaken, promoted by Mayor Ramón de Carranza, which resulted in the construction of the pavilion that occupied the central space.
In October 2009, the Central Market reopened its doors after three years of extensive renovations.

What a great display. It appears one can sample the oranges there.
