Broken Carder Reader at Hellerup Station

Helleup Station

In 2011, I wrote a 9-word system poem built around the paradigmatic and syntagmatic axes known in structural linguistics.

Later, I realized that I had made a mistake in the verbal structure by using noun phrases in both singular and plural instead of sticking to one form.

In April 2026, I drew inspiration from the 2011 poem for a work titled Sun: A Triptych for the Solar Eclipse, which, in turn, features a section of this image adjusted to a different colour scale and cropped to a 1:1 ratio.

In August 2024, inscribed the poem into the blockchain, where it now sits as Inscription #74,857,184.

In 2025, made two images as visual responses: ICE | July | 1982, a near-black study of the cryptographic membrane Gibson called Black ICE, and this image.

It's constructed from photographs of a broken card reader at Hellerup Station and a handful of hibiscus flowers, layered and recomposed.

Three dates, four if you the date of Neuromancer's publicatio in 1984, one thread.

The novel that gave the whole imaginative apparatus its vocabulary has remained, remarkably, unfilmed in the forty years since its publication.
