Jack…

Sweden…

Sadly the time came today to say goodbye to our lovely Jack…wishing him well over the rainbow bridge…
Anna my friend from over the road came to sit with us as she did with Charlie…they both liked to visit her on our way out for a walk…Moa the vet was as lovely with Jack as she was with Charlie and was considerate and kind to all…the procedure went smoothly as Jack was sleeping and didn’t wake through the process…he was calm and peaceful and I feel he was ready to leave us…a strange silence has decended over the house and we are missing him so much but know in our hearts we didn’t have any other choice…
The photo was from 3 or 4 years years ago and I like it very much…
Thank you all for your kind words that are most appreciated…

Such a handsome boy, and obviously a much loved member of your family. I'm sure you'll miss him, but you did the right thing by relieving him of his pain.

Handsome, lovely Jack - he clearly had a long and loving home with you. But saying goodbye is very, very painful and the silence afterwards is heartbreaking. Sir Walter Scott apparently said: "The misery of keeping a dog is his dying so soon, but to be sure, if he lived for fifty years and then died, what would become of me?? So true.

Loosing and missing a good, trusting companion and friend is heart-breaking. I cried when after 14 years we had to say goodbye to ours. That was many years ago, but I still miss her.
