Jerez de la Frontera. Palacio de San Dionisio

Built in 1837, the building that today houses The Sherry Gallery - Palacio San Dionisio has witnessed the main urban, social, and cultural changes in Jerez. Its origins date back to the old Royal Prison, intended for judicial and penitentiary functions. With the economic growth of the 19th century, it was acquired by a Jerez wine merchant, who transformed it into a private residence, incorporating architectural and decorative elements characteristic of the wine trade boom.
Later, it became known as the Palace of the Countess of Casares, becoming a landmark in the social and cultural life of the city, a setting for gatherings and celebrations of Jerez’s society at the time.
The Sherry Gallery is a space of more than 1,200 m², where tradition meets innovation, and where science, emotion, and immersive experience come together to reveal the essence of the wine that has conquered the world: Sherry wine. In addition, the palace hosts traveling exhibitions and the fascinating Brandy Museum, which houses the largest collection of brandy bottles and an extraordinary collection of labels from the Marco de Jerez. The palace features touch screens, olfactory experiences, and a research room.
