The Icefields Parkway (Route 93) links Lake Louise and Jasper with rugged and spectacular mountains on each side of the highway. Without stopping for photography, I would estimate the drive at about two hours of breathtaking beauty and incredible scenery. This image is a typical afternoon view of the rugged mountains and scattered glaciers before the winter snows arrive. The high flying very distant bird on the right side in this image is likely a bald eagle which seemed to be pretty common. I did not see it when taking this capture so that was a small surprise when first viewing this image on my computer. We did encounter a black bear, a fox who walked right up to our SUV, eagles and mountain goats along the Icefields Parkway.
