The famous Mater Dolorosa painting by El Greco, one of the most important painters of the European Reneissance, was donated to the church by the Belgian ambassador.

Church Stella Maris, the Star of the Sea, is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Porto Cervo, dominating the Marina below.
It was built in 1968-69 in a Mediterranean style, to a design by the architect Michele Busiri Vici.
The land where the church stands was donated by H.H. the Prince Aga Khan, religious leader of the Ismaili Muslims and founder of the Costa Smeralda.
