Comet 3I-Atlas is the third object discovered travelling though our solar system
but not part of our solar system. This comet passed between the orbit of earth
and Mars on its way from interstellar space through our solar system and then
back out again, never to return. Estimates put its size between 1400 feet and
3 miles in diameter. When this animation was taken, it was about 195 million miles
from earth. This animation shows the comet's movement over 15 minutes.
