On the left is the adult lady beetle, just emerged from the pupal skin on the right. Most Asian lady beetles have spots, but not all do. This one may acquire them.
Wonderful capture! At first I thought the chrysalis shell was on the left, but I was fascinated to learn the facts. Such an interesting photo and caption.
