Monarch butterfly chrysalis

Larose Forest

The future for Monarch Butterflies does not look exactly cheerful. This dry, drought-ridden summer has not helped (wilting plants, etc), but this was a sign of hope! Now, if the butterfly can emerge and find nectar, and start the journey south...

Great find and I think rain is on the way and hopefully this butterfly will make it.

Such an amazing pod for such a beauty to emerge from. No monarchs around here - I don't think they ever made it to this region.

Great find and image Christine. I've only seen a few monarchs this summer.

Unmistakeable even across continents! The species seems to be doing OK here, where they are not native. (I am seeing them daily in my garden at the moment, with many caterpillars.)

Une magnifique trouvaille très joliment présentée pour cette espèce de plus en plus en difficulté! V

Hopefully it will be successful and a Monarch will survive. Great spotting it.
