Gottweig Abbey

I wished we could have spent more time in Vienna as it is a city worth exploring.
However when you are on a river cruise they will leave you behind if you are not on board when it is time to go.
Off we traveled to Krems in lower Austria .
Once there we toured Gottweig Abbey a Benedictine Monastery.
It was founded in 1083 but in 1718 it was destroyed by a fire.
It was rebuilt in 1720.
They grow apricots and grapes on the property and the apricot nectar I had was delicious.
Charlie was not impressed with the wine.
It overlooked the Wachau Valley which was very pretty.

Some abbeys and monasteries in Europe are as magnificent as cathedrals. This photo was well framed ! ~VvV~
