Being somewhere at the right time is one of the best ingredients for beautiful captures in my opinion. If our SUV had not broken down in the mountains near Silverton, I would have never gotten this image. My son Paul and I were stranded in a campground about 20 minutes okfrom Silverton when our rental SUV would not start the next morning after camping. I could have fixed the problem with the SUV but the rental agency required that we wait and have the vehicle towed to Durango. We had to wait almost the entire day but they replaced our SUV late that day with another rental. It late in the day so we ended spending the night in Silverton since snow was predicted for that night. Silverton is really a fantastic place to be stranded so it was not all bad. Silverton got rain that night but it did snow in some places at higher elevations. On our morning drive towards our next destination the next morning greeted us with scenes like this. Sometimes good things follow bad luck.
