Heritage Park. view map

I was dropping off a squirrel at the park and when I backed out I saw this growing by the road. I hit the brakes, pulled back into a parking spot, jumped out and started snapping photos. There were 3 in a row but this one intrigued me the most. I didn’t measure it but visually I’d say it was about 7 to 8 inches in diameter. Wonder if squirrels eat mushrooms?

Super suggestion, Jim. Is your "elf on a shelf" hibernating, Paul. If so, wake him up for an hour or two.

This just needs a little leprechaun under it.

I agree with Traveller about Dave’s comment about the mushroom eating squirrels. I laughed out loud.

I figured since the squirrel had a nice snack, cracked pecan in the shell to be exact, I should take it for a ride to the park to run off some energy and have a playdate with some old friends. Psychedelic Mushrooms, I’m still chuckling, good one. Paul.

"Based on their behavior, I suspect squirrels only eat psychedelic mushrooms."

I don't think I have ever read anything so funny! Nicely said...to the contrary, I like the FEW squirrels I have around me.

I am also curious of why Paul went to the trouble of giving the squirrel a good life by dropping it off in the park? Good on Paul, but they do reproduce.

Best Wishes, Traveller

That's a great shot, Paul. I really like the perspective. I can imagine some small critter seeking shelter under it to escape the rain.

Based on their behavior, I suspect squirrels only eat psychedelic mushrooms.
