VICTOR AUGUSTIN MORIER: December 28, 1926 - October 03, 2020
Victor Augustin 'Gus' Morier passed away peacefully in Orleans, Ontario on October 3, 2020 at the age of 93.
Augustin was born in La Broquerie, Manitoba on December 28, 1926. He was the son of the late Henri Jules Morier and Georgina Boissinot. Augustin was married to the late Thérèse Bourdon for 65 years. His brothers, Henri, Paul, Fernand and Émile and sisters, Élise, Henriette (Le Saux), Lucie Reta and Justine (Therrien) predeceased him. He leaves behind his children, Gilles (Danielle Ménard), Irène (Yves Laviolette), Rolland (Janet Hood) and Alain (Brigitte Bénac); five grandchildren, Claire (Phillippe Pearcey), Lianne (Devon Perrin), Eric, Martin and Simon; his brother Vincent Morier and his sister-in-law Rose-Aimée, and many nieces and nephews.
Augustin acquired a strong work ethic from a young age helping his widowed mother and brothers run the farm. He had a long and distinguished career as an air traffic controller in Winnipeg and Montreal which included a year-long secondment in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Remembered as warm, jovial and curious, Augustin loved discovering new places and cultures and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed good food, the company of family and friends, and the telling of a good story followed by a good laugh.
A private ceremony for the immediate family will be held in the Heritage Funeral Complex in Orleans. Memorial donations can be made to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the staff of the Promenade residence in Orleans for the cheerful support and excellent care provided to Augustin.
from Phil Gies: I knew Gus from Montreal back in the early 70s, he had won a supervisor position and transferred from WG ACC. Gus was a pleasant person to work with, always with a ready smile.
