Box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis), #5199.4

At home

Unfortunately, this pretty moth can destroy boxwood shrubs (Buxus). According to Bug Guide this moth "has only recently been recorded in North America from Toronto, Ontario (CFIA, 2019)."

They are pretty as your shot shows. I saw a couple here, too. Fortunately, boxwood isn't a native plant.

I've been reading about this moth and its larvae. We have two boxwoods so I'm keeping an eye on them. It's such a pretty moth covered in glitter.
