Dropping off at the airport, and presumably the luggage was in the pickup truck's bed. However, they were not able to open it and had to remove the tonneau cover to gain access.

Are anyone else's eyes drawn to the really red hair?

Dave you could be right, my 19 Ranger tailgate locks and unlocks with the door locks and has an independent key lock/unlock on the tailgate itself. Ultimately I hope he didn’t damage his cover, mine was $1000.00 with free install on a Black Friday deal in 2020. Paul

Paul, this was a newer Toyota pickup, and I couldn't help but wonder whether there was some tailgate locking mechanism its owner didn't understand. More likely than a latch failure? Dave
