The lynx is the largest wild cat species in Europe.
This solitary animal inhabits large forest areas. It was widespread more than 200 years ago,
but today large populations are found only in Northern and Eastern Europe.

The lynx's long hind legs are adapted to its hunting behavior: it stalks prey and pounces on it with a powerful leap.
Lynxes can leap up to seven meters.
