One of the bucket list items on this trip was the Bayeux Tapestry. It was made about 1077 right after the battle of Hastings. It tells the story of Edward the confessor (who built Westminster Abbey), Harold Godwinson and, eventually, King William the conqueror. Bottom line: Edward promised the throne of England to William then reneiged and gave it to Harold. This really pissed off William as you might imagine. So William invaded England and Bob's your uncle. This is a photo of Harold being shot in the eye by an arrow at the Battle of Hastings which is part of the Bayeux Tapestry. I found it in a google search. You aren't allowed to take photos in the exhibit.
