This image shows the upper gallery wall of the Blue Hall (Blå Hallen) inside Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset).
Distinctive Features:
The brickwork is iconic: although it was originally meant to be plastered and painted blue (hence the name), architect Ragnar Östberg opted to leave it exposed to honor Nordic craftsmanship.
The greenish stone balustrade and decorative windows are part of the upper promenade used during formal processions, such as the Nobel Banquet.
The golden chandeliers and illuminated ceiling structure feature late National Romantic and Venetian Gothic influences.
This hall is the main ceremonial space in the building, most famously used for the annual Nobel Prize banquet, held each December 10th.
