This is an image of the full moon rising on 11th June 2025. The Moon is rising from the southern most point in an 18.5 year cycle. Known as Major Lunar Standstill
Yes, it is a composite image of the full moon rising behind the Sydney Opera House.
Two points, perennial cloud out over the Pacific Ocean and the 8.5 stop difference in exposure. The cloud obstructed the view of the Moon. The Moon is far brighter than the light reflected off the white tiles of the roof of the SOH from multiple laser projection system. Despite the huge difference in brightness, the cloud still reduced the moonlight to negligible amount. I had to wait for the Moon to rise above the low cloud, then in Photoshop, merge the two images.
Tonight the Moon was still clouded over.
