Since we got Tara, it's now difficult to keep the bottom 10" of our kitchen door clean.
I can see partly why. Unlike with the other girls who tell us when they want to go out, it's no longer just little footprints. Tara definitely adds her own messy signature.
I now have to use vinegar and water to clean this door. That is just in case the "Glass Plus" I was using before could be toxic to lick. I refuse to risk my dog's health. Vinegar is safe and pretty effective.
However, a half hour after window cleaning, the little smudges (feet, noses, and now tongue) start again and continue until couple of days later you can see the mess here. Dogs and kids keep one constantly on their toes keeping up with the extra work. It's never ending. Luckily, Chihuahuas aren't very tall. So just the bottom of this door is a problem. And mainly near where they know the door opens.
So, I have to clean a small 10" area near the bottom of the glass door every few days. Having our furkids is worth it. They're fully house broken and make clear when they need to go out (but we may be otherwise ignoring them), show lots of curiosity about the world on the other side of the glass, and make us constantly laugh in their silly antics. In general, our Chihuahuas are some of the cleanest all-around dogs possible. Spot glass cleaning is a minor inconvenience in comparison to all the good things they offer. This is the only "dirt" they add to the house.
Plus, Tara may eventually grow out of licking the door and thus significantly reduce the mess on the glass door. Still a puppy learning life, she's the main problem.
