A freshly molted Nodipes Decorator Crab
This crab had just shed its old exoskeleton, along with all its adornments. In this photo you can see the hooked bristles or setae that act like Velcro for the crab to attach new bits and pieces of sponges, anemones and algae. These serve as camouflage and protection.
