Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

Haworth, Oklahoma

My wife and I drove to Red Slough WMA and hiked two miles into the center of this area. We saw and heard more birds than one could imagine.
When we left, we headed south down Red Slough Rd and turned right onto Route 87.
We followed 87 west to route 259 and continued heading NW.
See 'previous' for another view of this flycatcher.

Thats a lovely flycatcher, they often perch on wires I remember seeing them in Florida where a few spend the winter.

A beautiful bird, well captured! I would love to see one of these.

I remember this species from Nicaragua. They were flying into the wind because to fly the other way would create havoc with that extraordinary tail.
