We spent a second day at Museum Island in Berlin, Germany. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The museums we saw were the Pergamon Panorama, the Alte Museum and the James Simon Gallery. Kind of heavy on the art, but I am a trooper. Pergamon was a city in western Turkey which was very extravagant in its prime. excavation started in the late 19th century by a German group led by Carl Humann. Over the years lots of relics and structures have been recovered and shipped to Germany. The actual temple reconstruction is closed for major renovations. the Pergamon Panorama displays some of the relics and has an enormous (4 stories tall) panorama of what the city looked like. Todays photo is my attempt at a "walking panorama" of an illustration of the city with my iPhone. The hard part is maintaining a fixed distance from the wall.
