This was the highlight of the day and maybe eventually of the whole trip. This is the famous bust of Queen Nefertiti, the wife of Akhenaten. It is housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin Germany. It was made in about 1345 BC in the city of Amarna. We actually visited Amarna on our Eqypt trip. Anyway, it was plundered from Amarna in 1912 by Ludwig Borchardt. It was found in the workshop of the sculptor and it is unfinished. Certainly a bucket list item for me. BTW-she is not the mother of King Tut. DNA sampling put that rumor to rest.
The museum made you stand back 50 feet to take photographs. This is the best I could do under the circumstances.
