Place du Château is the central square of Eguisheim Vieille Ville* (Old Town). The square is also known as as Saint-Léon square, after the fountain in the middle. It’s one of the busiest places in town, and surrounded by many shops and cafes. Don’t forget to check out the storks nesting on the roof of the pink church!The building with the colourful roof tower next to the church is the Château de Saint-Léon (you can’t enter). This central area used to be the location of a little castle, around which the village was centred. Now the old castle has disappeared and you can just admire the surrounding half-timbered houses.
