Sharp-shinned Hawk

Lake Frederick, Virginia

Returned from a 15 day road-trip to Florida last evening. This morning as I was about to put out a few backyard feeders, spotted this 'sharpie' looking for a meal.
I'm conducting an experiment. I read that Eastern Bluebirds will set up nesting in a box with a shallower bottom than House Sparrows.
So, I raised the bottom 3" in two of the four boxes in our common space behind Oatgrass Court.

That bill looks sharp too. 'Tis a raptor dressed to kill.
