All good things must end. I will miss seeing your beautiful images from here but take solace in the fact that I can come back and look at them again. V
Oops, I just came home and found Daniel (Danad) seems to have left me two assignments, one here and one on his own gallery. I did not associate the broken mask with anger, but let's find a story for him. Aham... A man went to the Venice carnival alone, where he met a girl, also a single participant. On the last night of the festival, the man wanted to kiss the girl. He lifted her mask, but was shocked by what he saw..... He started to tremble..... the girl ran away in tears. Out of embarrassment and inferiority, she dumped her mask and smashed it. Now the audience could see that she only had upper lip and upper teeth.....no lower part. Perhaps it's fair to say it wasn't out of anger that the masked was smashed.
An image with a strong visual impact. More than nostalgia it conveys a dramatic mood and also the expression of a kind of anger, as if someone had smashed the mask of spite! Impossible to find the reason for this spite and one can imagine all kinds of stories from this simple image...
In any case a climate that contrasts intensely with the joy, the light and the colors of the gallery. Again bravo and thank you Alain.
This is so sad. Fun and joy and hope all ended up in a shattered dream. When I saw this image, what came to my mind was the last verse of an old song by The Seekers.
Now the harbour light is calling,
This will be our last goodbye,
Though the carnival is over,
I will love you till I die.
The saddest part is that, the lead singer of the Australian folk pop group Judith Durham, passed away in 2022. That was the time when this song was popular (again) on Youtube.
I'll be back for another comment. Till a little later.
