We booked two trips to Africa for next summer. They are both mainly safari trips. Although it is a long way off, I got to thinking what camera(s) to take along. I don't want to haul tons of equipment. That gets to be a problem because we are traveling many times by small airplane and weight and space will be limited. As of today my going in position is to take my Canon SX70 HS which I have had a lot of success with. The only reason I would take it is for the longer lens (1365 35mm equivalent.) My iPhone has up to a 120 mm lens which is only 12 Mpix. But for the most part I seldom use that lens on the iPhone. The SX70 HS has a 20 Mpix sensor. So, for the moment, I plan to take the SX70 along. It was introduced in 2018. Maybe Canon might have an upgrade in the next 18 months.
