This is one of the best examples of the Easter Island moai statues. There are 15 of them up there. This has been destroyed twice. Once by an ancient war and in 1960 by a Tsunami. I have to say this is quite impressive. The statues are standing on an ahu, which is the enclosure that contains all the pedestals. The individual statues were dedicated to specific people, obviously rich people. We hit lucky on the weather and time of day. The statues were well lit by the afternoon sun.

The one on the right so much bigger than all the others.
Did they say if there is a reason for that. Or just happened to get a bigger piece of rock at the time.
