We returned home about 2:00 pm after a great visit with Robert and his family. Except for a little rain the drive from Slidell, LA, to the house was uneventful. I like to keep track of various vehicle parameters. One of those is the miles per gallon. Our old van had an odometer that recorded trip mileage and I started taking a photo of the odometer at the end of the trip. I went back to our Christmas trip to Alpharetta in 2013. The odometer said 24.8 miles per gallon. Today's trip shows 27.4 for the same trip. It's a little bit better. Other trips had a little variation. I went back to our fuel log and calculated the actual gas mileage to be 26.2. In the past I have found that the van's calculations are a little optimistic. Bottom line is that our new Odyssey is a joy on a long trip. It was very cold in Alpharetta and we both liked the heated seats.
