The garage door guy came this morning and got it fixed - almost. After he left I decided to give it a try and it would not go all the way down half the time. I had a close look and could see that the overhead track and the vertical track were not aligned. When the roller got to that point it would sense resistance and reverse. That is a safety feature of the door. The guy came back and was quite grumpy. I don't know why, he was the one who installed it.
He wouldn't listen to what I had to say and said there was nothing he could do because the bottom of the vertical track was up against the cement sill of the garage floor. I politely pointed out to him that the proper alignment could be achieved by loosening the screws on the brackets and pushing the track into the proper position. He tried it and it worked perfectly. He had installed it with a lot of tension on the brackets, and releasing the tension caused it to find the right alignment. To top the day off we had the rollers replaced which made him happier because he got an extra $150 for a twenty minute job. The rollers were $80 and included in the price.
