The first "provisional Centre Pompidou" was set up in the spring of 2015 in the city of Malaga, in Andalusia.The "Centre Pompidou Malaga" was established for a period of five years in the Cubo, a building with a cultural vocation that was erected in 2013 and modified in 2014 in order to host the Centre Pompidou, overlooking the city's marina. It invites the largest possible public to experience the Centre Pompidou through the wealth of its collection, the excellence of its programme, its intersecting artistic disciplines and the innovation of its mediation programmes.The Centre Pompidou Malaga opened its doors on 28 March 2015 in the presence of the President of the Spanish government, Mariano Rajoy, and the French Minister for Culture and Communication, Fleur Pellerin.
