I spent election week, perhaps fittingly, in the shadow of New Hampshire's Presidential Range. Pictured here, right to left, are the two northernmost peaks of Mount Adams (5793') and Mount Madison (5367')
Mount Adams is named for John Adams, the second President of the United States. As a Founding Father, it appears his vision for our country was quite different from our current political structure.
“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other.
This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”
John Adams, May 12, 1780
