Sant Elm Hermitage
The origin of the term Costa Brava has different versions, but for many, its use by Ferrán Agulló (1863-1933) on 12 September 1908 in an article published in the newspaper La Veu de Catalunya, is the beginning of the name that clearly identifies the area.In this location, a fortification of four towers was initially built, strategic for the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, which reached its peak during the 16th century and included a hermitage in honour of Sant Elm dated 1452. After being destroyed by the French army in 1696, after an initial restoration, its location was used for the construction of the hermitage dedicated to the Lady of Buen Viaje in the 18th century. It was in 1923 when it was rebuilt again, within the framework of the garden city of the Sant Elm ), promoted by the industrialist Pere Rius i Taulet.
