I was at the beach photographing the surfing action when I spotted this fisherman. I am always striving to capture that "decisive moment" in a scene. You know that split second when all the elements come together in a frame to communicate the essence of what I am witnessing. Here I froze in time the split second in the cast when the rod was fully flexed, the man with his weight forward, ready to cast the bait into the ocean. I watched carefully as he fished and shot a number of casts using high speed burst settings and finally managed to get this shot, which I felt told the story best.
