Cuenca. Ciudad Encantada. Tormo Alto

Enchanted City. Tormo Alto
The word "tormo" comes from the Latin word "tumulus", which means "prominent rock". It is here that we will see, right from the start, the typical mushroom shape that we will be able to see throughout our visit and which responds to a geological phenomenon called "differential erosion". The dolomites3, the predominant rocks in the Enchanted City, do not have the same composition throughout their thickness due to the different strata, or layers, that have been superimposed throughout the entire process of rock formation. In this way, each part of them will react differently to erosion. In the case of Tormo Alto, the upper part is more resistant to said erosion, so the result is a much more voluminous part than the lower one.
