During the 13th century, the Manjavacas area where this hermitage is located was a place of importance in this area; the province of Cuenca. However, for health reasons, its inhabitants moved to nearby towns, mainly to the population centre that is now Mota del Cuervo. This meant that until the end of the 15th century, Manjavacas was an uninhabited area where two hermitages remain standing: that of San Pedro and that of Nuestra Señora de la Antigua. However, the current Manjavacas hermitage does not correspond to any of the temples of yesteryear, but its construction dates back to the 17th century at a crossroads in this area that was once uninhabited. It is a neoclassical building with a floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross, with very short arms, a square apse and a raised choir at the foot.
