Some 200 hundred years ago, the inhabitants of the small village of Čičmany
began decorating the exteriors of their wooden houses
with artistic pattern and motifs - white lime paint on black wood.
The designs included abstract geometric shapes of animals,
arrows, clovers, crosses, hearts, stars, spirals, and pinwheels.
