Belmonte. Chinchilla Gate
The old walls were built throughout the 15th century. The Municipal Archive, which disappeared in 1936, contains the deed that the town granted to the Marquis on 12 October 1456 regarding the construction of the wall, and, although this precious document has disappeared, authentic copies have been preserved. The Chinchilla Gate, to the south, which, in addition to being the first to be built, is the one that has survived best to this day, and if that were not enough, it has also been renovated in recent years by the General Directorate of Fine Arts. From here to the Castle, the entire stretch of wall is still preserved, with a beautiful watchtower.
