The Nalychevo group of springs has about a hundred thermal water outlets. Over many years, deposits from springs rich in various substances formed a travertine shield. Its smaller part, with an area of about 50 thousand m˛, is located on the surface and forms the so-called “Cauldron” - a vast flat travertine area. At its top there is a dry crater 1.5 meters deep, which ceased to function after exploratory drilling carried out in 1958 and 1959. Before drilling, this funnel was the main source of water coming to the surface, and it was because of its rapid functioning that the travertine site received the name “Cauldron”.
